How it works
Room area is length × width. Waste is added on top (10% is a normal starting point for straight runs; use more for diagonal patterns or rooms with many cuts). Boxes needed is the waste-adjusted area divided by coverage per box, rounded up — you can't buy part of a box.
Frequently asked questions
Why add waste?
Cuts around walls, doorways and odd corners use up material. Without a waste allowance you will almost always run short.
How many planks is that?
Boxes × planks per box. Check your product — planks per box varies by brand.
