How TDEE is estimated

First, BMR is estimated from sex, age, height, and weight. Then it is multiplied by an activity factor, from 1.2 for sedentary up to 1.9 for extremely active. Most people overestimate their activity, so choosing the lower honest level gives a more realistic number.

Frequently asked questions

How do I use TDEE for weight loss?

A modest deficit below maintenance is the usual approach, but targets, health conditions, and safe rates vary. See a professional before changing your diet.
