How tipping and splitting work
Tip equals the bill times the tip percent. Add it to the bill for the total, then divide by the number of people for an even split. If tax is already in the bill amount you enter, the tip is calculated on that total.

Should I tip on the pre-tax or post-tax total?
Custom varies. Most people tip on the pre-tax subtotal; tipping on the post-tax total is also common and only slightly higher.
